Best Water Filters

Water is so vital to our health that we absolutely cannot live without it. Many of us take our drinking water for granted though. We expect to turn on a faucet, or open a bottle and get the water we need, and assume that it is pure and healthful.
Water is so vital that health professionals tell us we need at minimum of four 8 ounce glasses per day to maintain our heart and circulatory system, keep digestive regularity and regulate our metabolism. These four glasses reflect the amount of water, and do not include any other liquids like coffee, tea, juices, milk or soft drinks.

We all should be concerned about the quality of water we drink, and one sure way to be active in controlling this is to use a water filter.
The best water filters today are reasonably inexpensive and easy to use. There is no reason why everyone can t have a water filter of some sort to assure the best quality and purity of their drinking water. Most bottled water is tap water that is filtered and purified, so you can save quite a bit of money by using a filter on your tap water and drinking that.

The best water filters can easily be found at any grocery or department store, and in online stores. Most use carbon filtration which is highly effective at removing particles and some, but not all possible contaminants. If you are filtering tap water, your water supplier should already be cleaning most chemicals and contaminants for the supply. You can request a report on drinking water quality to confirm this. A home water filter will be the final step in your water quality control.

PUR is one of the best water filters, and is effective at removing lead, micro-organisms and pharmaceuticals from your water. It does not do much for removing solvents or other chemicals though. PUR filters average a cost of 27 cents per gallon of water.
Brita is a very well know brand of filter, and their Brita Pitcher is a popular item. It comes with a carbon filter that inserts into the pitcher and water flows through this into the storage portion. Brita filters however are not as effective as PUR at removing most common contaminants. The cost of the Brita per gallon of water is 20 cents.
Aquasana Water for Life is a countertop filter system that does an excellent job of filtering out all contaminants and chemicals.
It is highly rated, and may be one of the best water filters you can use at home. Though the initial cost is more than the PUR or Brita filters, it will only cost about 10 cents per gallon to use.

Two other commonly found water filters are the Instapure and Culligan models. These are rated to remove chlorine and help the water taste better, but not as highly rated for chemicals or other contaminants.
Be sure to check the specifications and reviews for any home water filter that you decide on, as water is of such importance we should all be especially concerned about the quality of what we drink.
